Former EQ Players: What does Darkpaw have to do to win you back? (2025)

Lol what? Classic WoW literally proves this completely wrong. People freaking love classic WoW and it requires scheduled raids and people forming groups to advance. Blizzard literally just released brand new Classic WoW servers because people wanted to do it again.

Again Lol what literally Final Fantasy 14, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2.

Again Lol what World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14.

Everquest wasn't challenging... the things you describe as challenge aren't actual challenge. Running through EC and getting attacked by a level 16 invisible air elemental that wanders around the desert when you're level 8 isn't challenge it's BS that doesn't have a counter. A griffen flying through your camp and forcing you to wait for it to leave is not a challenge is a waste of time. Dying in Crushbone and going to your bind spot in Qeynos isn't a challenge it's tedium. A raid boss having a skill that is LITERALLY CALLED DEATH TOUCH isn't challenging it's BS. Dying and dropping everything on your corpse wasn't challenging it was tedious because you just had to find someone to summon your corpse depending where you died.

Challenge has a counter, if something doesn't have a counter it's not a challenge and the fact is a lot of things in old Everquest didn't have a counter. Sure you could say the counter is not to die yeah fine but don't try to say random BS is a challenge. Did Everquest have challenge? It did a really good Enchanter was practically a solo god but it was an actual challenge.

Steal money from idiots willing to pay for an alpha again. There I answered the question please look at Everquest Next and Everquest Landmark for my research sources.

Everquest Next wasn't a failure.... it was literally a scam... To call it a failure is... I just... WOW... IT WAS LITERALLY A SCAM. They said buy this product and make things and they can potentially be put into Everquest Next and they cancelled Everquest Next after selling a bunch of packs. It was LITERALLY not figuratively LITERALLY a false advertisement scam, no if's no ands, no buts that's what it was period and the people that didn't see that coming when they literally said in the very fine print of your purchase of Everquest Landmark nothing will transfer over to Everquest Next after they said your creations could transfer over to Everquest Next was the cherry on top of the scam, the people that bought it deserved to lose their money.

EQOA was on Playstation 2 it was literally put on life support when it came out because they knew Playstation 2 would eventually get phased out by Playstation 3 and they just never put forth the funds to update the tech for next gen or PC.

Everquest 2 was literally set up for failure in a sense. Let me explain why since you don't seem to know. Everquest 2 came out 2 weeks before a certain MMO that took over the entire market. That's right Everquest 2 launched LITERALLY two weeks before World of Warcraft, oh but there's more Everquest 2 launched LITERALLY the same day as Halo 2, now why would Halo 2 a completely different game type hurt Everquest 2? Because Everquest 2 was getting over shadowed by a major game in all media. So you have A MASSIVE MMO shadow of WoW coming out 2 weeks later and then Halo 2 shadowing it the same day it comes out.

But there's also another fact that people that played Everquest 2 at launch found out very quick. The PC requirements for Everquest 2 WERE FREAKING CRAZY. This is 2004 PC gaming is expensive and Everquest 2 drops and if you were running the latest Everquest Expansion at high and not maximum good luck running Everquest 2 on low lol. So you have Everquest 2 drop requiring insane requirements and then World of Warcraft drop two weeks later and is capable of running on a potato as long as it has internet connection.

AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN TOUCHED ON EVERQUEST 2 differences yet. Everquest 2 was more casual than Everquest by far, if you died you didn't drop your items, you took armor durability damage and got EXP debt and dropped a soul shard which if picked up got rid of part of your EXP debt. WoW had it to where if you died you ran back to your corpse and took some armor damage that's it, so it was even more casual than Everquest 2. Everquest 2 also was faster paced gameplay wise than Everquest so people that boxed on Everquest 1... well they weren't boxing on Everquest 2... mainly because of a computer struggling to just run 1 client of Everquest 2 but even if they were forced to do true box the gameplay was just faster, when Everquest 2 launched ^^^heroic mobs weren't a freaking joke they would bite your tank in half like Mike Tyson bit ears off.

But there's more Everquest 2 wasn't really Everquest even classes were.... far to different than Everquest and people that played Everquest 2 noticed fast. Rangers never got spells they were just archers, Monks were Tanks, Necromancers were a full blown pet class, Paladin and Shadow Knights were kinda... worthless. It was set up for failure honestly. However not as set up for failure as Vanguard was, now there was Everquests true successor and Sony literally pushed it out way to soon just to compete with World of Warcraft's first expansion.

Everquest is kept afloat by people that box it's not popular. Think about it this way if you have 1 person paying for 6 accounts you have a person paying 90 dollars a month. So if you have 1000 people all six boxing that's 90,000 dollars a month from only 1000 people. Mind when Ragefire just laucnched there was a person boxing 18 accounts FREAKING 18! THAT'S 270 DOLLARS A MONTH. But that's not all those mages (yes they were all mages), were also using EXP pots and other crap.

Everquest isn't popular it's kept afloat by whales boxing groups and raids with a few dolphins boxing 3 accounts and then the occassional minnow like myself that drop by for the launch of a new TLE server with our single account.
